Fondly called ‘The Paradise on Earth’, Jammu and Kashmir offers unparallel view of the snow-clad peaks and plethora of adventure activities like skiing, snowboarding, trekking and boating. On Amarnath Yatra route, the most important tourist places (near Amarnath) are Kashmir, Srinagar, Mughal Gardens, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Jammu, and Ladakh.

Srinagar
Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir and is located in the picturesque Kashmir valley. Along with the enchanting landscape, Srinagar is famous for its canals, houseboats, Mughal gardens, and the mesmerizing Dal Lake. At Srinagar, you will find traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and flavourful dry fruits. Tons of tourist flock Srinagar throughout the year, especially during summers. Some famous tourist spots in and around Srinagar are Shalimar Bagh, Kheer Bhawani temple, Nishant Bagh and Chasma Shahi.
Lying 27 km away from Pahalgam, located at a height of approcimately 3,658 m, Sheshnag Lake is a popular attraction for pilgrims travelling to Amarnath pilgrimage. Legend has it that Lord Shiva left his snakes at Sheshnag Lake while travelling to Amarnath Cave to recite the Amar Katha to Maa Parvati. Sheshnag Lake is considered holy by the pilgrims and due to its high elevation it remains covered in ice till June.
Pahalgam
The beautiful hill station of Pahalgam situated in the Kashmir valley is a major resort town surrounded by alpine peaks and charmed by the Lidder and Seshnag rivers. As it is also the starting point for the Amarnath Yatra, pilgrims can explore this beautiful town sprawling 4 km around the river junction. Pahalgam offers golf, rafting, trekking and various adventure activities.
Sonmarg
Located in the beautiful alpine valley of Kashmir and surrounded by the towering snow-clad peaks, Sonmarg is a halting/starting point of Baba Amarnath Yatra for pilgrims travelling through Baltal route. Nearby attractions include the breathtaking Zozi La pass. From Sonmarg, trekking routes lead to the Himalayan lakes of Vishansar Lake, Krishansar Lake, Gangabal Lake and Gadsar Lake.
Patni Top
Patni Top is one of the most beautiful hill stations in the Jammu regions. Patni Top has a picturesque landscapes and is famous for its activities like skiing, trekking, and water springs.
Sanasar, located 17 kms from Patni Top, is also popular for paragliding base and golf courses along with extended sightseeing options.
Gulmarg
Located in the Pir Panjal mountain range, Gulmarg is the heartland of winter sports in India.
