Pahalgam is situated 95 km east of Srinagar and lies peacefully in the Liddar valley far away from the modern world.The snow-capped mountains and the dense forests of pine and cheddar surrounds Pahalgam and offers a picturesque view of the whole hilly town.

Places to visit in Pahalgam

Kolahoi Glacier – Kolahoi Glacier is a 5 km long hanging glacier situated above the Lidder valley. The glacier is worshipped as the ‘Goddess of Light’ by the locals and is a source of water for rivers like Jhelum and Lidder.

Chandanwari – Chandanwari is a pristine valley located at an elevation of 2,895 m blessed with the beauty of Mother Nature. It is just 16 km from Pahalgam and also serves as the starting point for the trek to Amarnath Temple.

Aru village – The beautiful Aru village lies in the Aru valley known for its scenic meadows and peaceful environment. Located just 12 km from Pahalgam, Aru valley serves as a base camp for trekking to Kolhoi Glacier and Tarsar Lake.

Baisaran – Located just 5 km from Pahalgam, Baisaran is a lush green meadow surrounded by dense pine forests and snow-capped mountains. Baisaran is an ideal spot for camping and offers panoramic views of the entire town and the captivating Liddar Valley.

Lidderwat – Located at an elevation of 2,408 m, Lidderwatis one of the best camping sites of Jammu and Kashmir. Enclosed in dense forests and scenic grasslands, Lidderwat is the perfect location for nature and adventure lovers. You can trek to Kolahoi Glacier and the twin lakes of Tarsar and Marsar from here. It is just 22 km from Pahalgam.

Sheshnag Lake – Sheshnag Lake is a high altitude lake at an elevation of 3,590 m. The mesmerizing lake falls in the route of the Pahalgam-Amarnath route
