Useful Tips for Amarnath Yatra 2019

Amarnath Yatra 2019 starts on 1st July 2019. To ensure that your yatra goes smoothly, keep in mind the tips below while also following the Dos and Don’ts of the Amarnath Yatra.

Useful tips for Amarnath Yatra

  1. Supplies – There are established Government Depots in Chandanwari, Sheshnag, and Panjtarni which provides ration at fair prices. You can buy food items like biscuits, toffees, tinned food, etc. for your Amarnath Travels journey. Firewood and gas is also available at Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panjtarni,
  2. Food – Availability of food isn’t a problem during Amarnath Yatra with many tea-stalls and small restaurants along the way. Langars are also available on the way which serve healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Water is easily available throughout the yatra.
  3. Insurance – Yatris registered for Amarnath Yatra by SASB and with a valid Yatra Permit (YP) are eligible for an insurance cover of Rs.3 lakhs in case of deaths by accident during the yatra.
  4. Accomodation – There are various campsites in the Amarnath Mandir route. Insulated huts and tents are installed in these campsites which are available on rentals.
  5. Registration Time – It is advisable to get your registration done at least a month ahead of the date of Amarnath Yatra. Doing so will give you ample time to prepare well for the yatra and organize all the required documents.
  6. Transport Facilities – Transport facilities during Baba Amarnath Yatra is provided by Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC). There are several booking counters in Jammu Division and Kashmir Division from where you can book your transports.

  7. Langar – Langar facilities are available throughout Amarnath Yatra where you’ll be served breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
    If you are travelling from Baltal route, Langar will be available at Baltal camp, Domail, Railpathri, Brarimarg, Sangam, and Holy Amarnath Gufa.
    If you are travelling from Pahalgam route, Langar will be available at Nunwan, Chandanwari, Pissutop, Zojibal, Nagakoti, Sheshnag, Wavbal, Poshpatri, Kelnar, and Panjtarni.
  8. Telecom Facilities – Prepaid connections of other states are not allowed in Jammu and Kashmir. During your Amarnath Yatra, you will be provided special pre-loaded Yatra SIMs by BSNL. The SIM card costs Rs.230 with 20,000s free talk time and 1.5 GB data for 10 days. To avail the SIM Card, you’ll need a valid ID proof, address proof, a photograph, and a photocopy of your registration slip issued by SASB.
  9. Amarnath Yatra Timings – The timings of the opening and closing of the Access Control Gate from where you can move forward are given below. On normal weather conditions, the timings won’t change. They are subject to change on adverse weather conditions.
