Opening and Closing Dates of Amarnath

The revered Amarnath pilgrimage is open for devotees for only two months every year, during the month of July and August as the weather become gentler for pilgrims to make their journey to the holy shrine. For the rest of the year, the holy shrine lies dormant under the snow. The dates of the Amarnath Yatra commence on the auspicious day of Skandshasthi on June and conclude on Shravan Purnima (Raksha Bandhan).

Starting Date of Amarnath Yatra 2022 – 30 June 2022

Ending Date of Amarnath Yatra 2022 – 11 August 2022

Amarnath Yatra in 2022 will begin from 30 June 2022 and conclude on 11 August 2022.

This year Amarnath Yatra is being held for 40 days. In 2018, Amarnath Yatra was held for 45 days while in 2017, it was held for 59 days.

Opening Date of Amarnath Yatra 2022

Amarnath Yatra will start from June 2022. To undertake the yatra, devotees must have a Yatra Permit (YP) from the Yatra Registration Counters. The registration have already started for both Baltal route and Pahalgam route and is based on a ‘first come, first serve’ criteria.

It is now essential for the applicant pilgrim to submit Compulsory Health Certificate while seeking registration for this year’s Amarnath Yatra.

Considering the present carrying capacity of the tracks, available infrastructure in the Yatra area and all other relevant considerations the Board decided that, excluding Yatris who would travel by heli-copters on either route to Panjtarni, 7500 pilgrims would be allowed to register for Yatra 2019 on per day per route basis.

Closing Date of Amarnath Yatra 2022

The Amarnath Yatra 2022 begin on 30th of June and concludes on 11th August 2022 after being opened for 40 days for devotees.

Amarnath Gufa holds a great significance in Hinduism. It is believed that one must partake the yatra at least once in a lifetime. People from across the world visit the holy Amarnath Cave Temple and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.

The yatra is a challenging one. However, facilities like helicopters and ponies have greatly eased up the journey and made it possible for more people to take it.
