Vaishno Devi Yatra is a devotional journey to Maa Vaishno Devi temple that is decked at the foothills of Trikuta mountain. The Yatra is considered to be one of the toughest pilgrimages in India. Yet, the high reverence for the Goddess makes pilgrims traverse through the tough trek route. Though Vaishno Devi trek is adventurous the steep path is not meant for all. Many people are not able to undertake the yatra due to health, old age and many other reasons.

But now the Vaishno Devi helicopter services from Katra has made the whole pilgrimage tour easy and accessible for all. Pilgrims can avail of the helicopter services from the official website of the Shrine Board. The helicopter leaves pilgrims at Sanjhichhat helipad. From here the Ma Vaishno Devi Gufa is located just 2 km away. Flight from Katra to Sanjhichatt takes around 8 minutes to reach. Only 5-6 passengers are accommodated in one flight.

Yatris must note that www.maavaishnodevi.org is the official website of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. A person can book the tickets online through this website. No other travel agents/agency has been permitted by the SMVDSB to sell helicopter tickets. So, yatris should make sure not to buy tickets from any travel agents.

Offline (Current Booking) of the Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets

Current booking of tickets (on the date of travel) can be done from the Current Heli-Ticket Counter of SMVDSB, Niharika Bhawan, Katra. The offline booking process of helicopter tickets starts early in the morning at 8:00 AM. People start lining up at 5:00 AM. One must reach the ticket counter on time as most of the time tickets get sold out. So, it’s better to book the tickets beforehand online.

Guidelines for buying helicopter ticket at Heli-Ticket Counter:

• For availing the helicopter ticket it is important that one has the yatra registration slip.
• Valid ID proof of all the members of the family availing the services will be required.
• Travel documents proof by air/bus/train is required like train/bus/air tickets or any other proof.
• Tax rates as applicable on the day of the travel shall be charged.

Advance Booking of Helicopter Tickets for Vaishno Devi Yatra

One can books the tickets online through the official website of SMVDSB, a maximum of 60 days and a minimum of 4 days in advance from the date of booking/journey. Online booking opens 60 days in advance at 10 AM every day.

Process for booking the online tickets :

Given below are in-depth step by step process of booking the Vaishno Devi tickets online:

1.   Get registered at the Maa Vaishno Devi official website- Click on the ‘User Registration’ to get registered. Fill details. Only one user registration is permitted.
2. Check the flight availability and flight date-time –Once you get registered successfully; select the date of the flight, route details, number of passengers and other details. Only five helicopter tickets can be booked from one debit or debit card.
3. Fill the Details-Submit the correct details. Before submitting make sure to cross-check all the details. As details once entered cannot be changed.
4. Make the payment-Enter your debit or credit card details and make the payment. Once the payment gets successful, you can take out the print copy of the reservation slip. Also, note down the transaction ID for future references.
5. Check the transaction status-After making the payment check the transaction status. If it shows a successful transaction then it means then you don’t need to worry. Just click on the reprint option for taking the print out copy of the reservation slip. In case it shows the failed transaction but the amount has been deducted from your bank account. Then you can send the email to   ‘online@maavaishodevi.org’. For processing the refund give the correct transaction details including tracking ID number/Trace number, user ID and transaction date. Make sure to make the refund request within 30 days of travel otherwise your request will be rejected and no refund will be issued.

Once the online reservation process is completed, get the print out of the Electronic Reservation Slip. Keep this printed copy safely as you will be required to present this printed copy along with your other documents like ID proof, the debit/card used for payment, etc. Please note that ID proof of not only the person who made the payment but also of all the travelers is required. In case any error occurs in taking out the printed copy then you can send a mail to ‘online@maavaishodevi.org’ within 48 hours of the transaction date.

Note:-

• Once tickets are booked they are not transferable.
• Children, less than two years of age will be carried free of cost. Such children will have to be adjusted and must sit on the lap of the accompanying adult. In case of any dispute regarding the age, the final decision will be made on the basis of the valid age proof.
• Passengers will have to reach the departure helipad one hour before the specified departure time of the helicopter or reporting time mentioned in PTD. If a passenger is late then it shall be considered as NO SHOW. No refund is reimbursed in case of NO SHOW ticket.

Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets Price

On booking from the official website, the helicopter tickets will cost you ₹1,045 per person (one side from Katra to Sanjichhat or Sanjichhat to Katra). Katra-Sanjichhat-Katra the fare is ₹2,090. Ticket rate includes the applicable taxes and no commission/processing fees are included. Yatris should beware of the travel agents/touts regarding the tickets price.

Vaishno Devi Helicopter Tickets Cancellation Policy

• The tickets should be canceled 4 days before the scheduled date of travel.
• Helicopter tickets booked online through the Shrine Board website shall be canceled by online mode only.
• Yatris can go to the Shrine Board’s official website:-
  https://www.maavaishnodevi.org/ and cancel the tickets by logging in with their username and password.
• 70% of the fare shall be refunded to the yatris. Remaining 30% will be adjusted against the processing charge and accrue to the Shrine Board.
• The amount will be refunded by the Shrine Board within 15 days from the cancellation of the tickets.
• The amount shall be repaid in the same account through which the payment was made for ticket booking.
• In a situation of cancellation of tickets due to bad weather conditions or technical reasons, a full refund of fare will be made. Pilgrims must hand over their tickets to the concerned helicopter operator to avail of the refund.
