Set up in 1986, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is the administrative body responsible for the management of the Yatra and the Holy Shrine. The main objective of the Shrine Board is to provide for better management and governance of the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji.

In today’s time, the Shrine Board is known to be one of the biggest service providing organization in the world. It is the continuous efforts of the Board that has made the whole Vaishno Devi yatra easy and hassle-free for yatris. The Shrine Board further strives to better and cater to all the possible required facilities to yatris so that they can rejoice a memorable spiritual experience.

Ever since the takeover, the Shrine Board has continuously strived hard to provide all possible facilities to the devotees visiting the Holy Shrine of Vaishno Devi Ji. With the result, the Yatra to the Holy Shrine of Vaishno Devi has increased tremendously reaching over 100 million pilgrims in 2012.

Major Achievements of the Shrine Board

  • The entire stretch of track from Ban Ganga to Bhawan covering a distance of over 12 Kms. has been laid with tiles. Also, an alternate track measuring 5.5 Kms has been constructed.
  • The entire track has been well illuminated with approximately 1200 sodium lamps making the night journey to the Holy Shrine possible.
  • Free accommodation for the devotees available at Adhkuwari, Sanjhichatt, and Bhawan has been set up by the Shrine Board.
  • Well equipped Medical Centers supervised by professionals have been set up at Banganga, Adhkuwari, and Bhawan apart from the 24-hour charitable dispensary at Katra.
