The yatra starts on 1st July 2019 and concludes on 15th August 2019.
A. Pahalgam-Amarnath route is the historical and most popular route to reach Amarnath Cave. From this route it takes around 30 km trek to reach the Dham. This route contains the best facilities in terms of camps and food stalls. Pahalgam route is the most preferred route by pilgrims because of its relatively easy gradient as compared to the Baltal-Sonmarg route. You can opt to reach Amarnath Temple either through feet, palanquin, horses, helicopter, and dandies for old folks.
Baltal Amarnath Route is comparatively shorter than Amarnath Route with just 15 km trek. However, the route is narrower and challenging as compared to the Pahalgam route. This route is advisable for young people who love adventure and challenging tracks.
A. Due to the arduous nature of the Amarnath pilgrimage where the pilgrims have to cross steep cliffs and mountain passes, only 15000 pilgrims are allowed to partake in pilgrimage everyday for the 48-day long pilgrimage to Amarnath Cave shrine that starts on July and ends on August. This implies only 7,500 registrations are allowed for each Pahalgam and Baltal route. It is mandatory for all the pilgrims to register well before undertaking the Yatra. A. Yes, there are few criteria for Amarnath Yatra registration. No one below the age of 13 years or above the age of 75 years is allowed to undertake for the pilgrimage for safety reasons. Also, no lady with more than six week’s pregnancy is allowed to register for the Yatra.

A. You can complete your Amarnath registration online or by visiting registration counters at designated bank branches identified by SASB throughout India. Only the designated Bank Branches spread all over India are the registration counters for the pilgrimage.

A. Documents required for Amarnath Yatra registration-
A. As the Amarnath Cave is locates an altitude of 14,000 feet, it involves exposure to extreme cold, low humidity, increased ultra violet radiations and reduced air pressure. Under these conditions, only physically fit are advised to apply for the Yatra Registration and this is the reason a Compulsory Health Certificates (CHC) is mandatory for each applicant.
CHC can only be issued by the list of authorized institutions/doctors.

A. As the Amarnath temperature is cold with cold winds blowing frequently, carry warm and woollen clothing. Wear trekking shoes that can withstand rainy weather. Ladies should not wear sari and instead opt for salwaar kameez, yop-pants, and tracksuit. Carry eatables like dry fruits and nuts for the journey ahead.
