Dedicated to Goddess Ramachandi, the temple is situated near Puri railway station and is one of the shrines visited by the devotees. Goddess Ramachandi is a reincarnation of Goddess Durga and rituals and celebrations like Durga Puja, Dussehra, Kali Puja (Deepawali) etc are observed with great dedication in this temple.
According to the mythology, Ramachandi means ‘Ramaadharita Chandi’ or the Chandi worshipped by Lord Rama Chandra. It is believed on his way to Lanka, Rama Chandra worshipped Goddess Durga here to seek her blessings attain victory over Ravana. This temple is also known for its tantric rituals, such as a 16-day Sola Puja carried out during the Durga Puja.
