O.T.C. Hanuman Temple in Thiruvananthapuram is one of the most popular Anjaneya temples in God’s Own Country. Lord Hanuman is worshipped as the main deity here. Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapati Yogeeswaran and Naga are sub-deities here.
After Marthanda Varma’s rule, the capital of Travancore was changed from Padmanabhapuram to Thiruvananthapuram. Earlier, the headquarters of the Nair Brigade was transferred from the old capital to the new and later brought back to Thiruvananthapuram. The Nair soldiers carried their deities to Thiruvananthapuram. The cavalry of the Nair Brigade brought Ganesha idols of Pazhavangadi and Palayam temples, while the cavalry soldiers brought Sri Hanuman to Thiruvananthapuram. Since the shrine was located with the military camp, the temple is officially referred to as O.T.C. - Officers Training Camp Hanuman Temple.
The famous Thazhamon Madhom has Tantram in this temple.
Festivals related to Lord Hanuman are celebrated with great zest in the temple. All the devotees follow strict dress code. They can enter the temple only in the formal attire given by the temple authorities.
