Erwadi

Erwadi is a small town but contributes more than most of the towns to the revenue of Ramanthapuram district. The place is very famous for its holy Dargah. Ervadi has the grave and shrine of Qutbus Sultan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed Badusha, the then ruler of Madinah Al Munawwara and 18th generation descendant of prophet Muhammad.

There are several holy graves of Kith and Kin of Badusha Sulthan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed in the premises of Dargah. Sandanakoodu Urus festival is celebrated every year in holy month of Dhu al-Qi’dah (month of Hajj) to commemorate the Shahadat Anniversary of Hazrat Qutb Sulthan Syed Ibrahim Shahid Badhusha. Over 15 lakhs devotees from every cast and creed and through out the world join Sandanakoodu Urus festival each year.

How to Reach Erwadi

By Air – Erwadi has no airport. Tuticorin Airport which is situated at 81 kms from Erwadi and taxis are available to reach the town.

By Train – Ervadi has no railway station. Nearest Railway station is in Ramanthapuram which is 21 km away.

By Road – Erwadi is connected by road to all major cities nearby. Regular buses are available from here to major cities.
