Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha Temple is located in Thrippunithura, Kochi. It is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. Devotees consider the Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple an extension of the famous Sastha Temple in Chamravattom, Malappuram. Pilgrim believes Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha to be the incarnation of Lord Dhanvantari and is the only temple in Tripunithura where Dharmasastha is worshipped as the main deity. Besides Dharmasastha devotees also worship Lord Ganesha and Goddess Bhadrakali along with Nagaraja and Brahmasrakshas.

Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha Temple is Famous For

The temple is famous for its sacredness and classic Kerala style of architecture. It has undergone renovation, yet its basic structure is unchanged. The Sopanam doors and steps are covered with brass. The sanctum sanctorum of Sree Ayyappa and Bhadrakali is adorned with copper roofing. The Namaskara Mandapam and Chuttambalam, are designed with copper roofing too. The sacred sculptures on the walls narrate the story of the mythological era. While the stone pillars showcase traditional south Indian architecture.

  • Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple celebrates several festivals apart from Makaravilakku. Festivals celebrated in the temple include Dwaja Prathishta Dinam, Vishu, Navarathri, and Mandalavilakku.
  • Painguni Uthram is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Sree Dharmasastha. Uthram star in the month of Meenam, as per Malayalam era is seen as Painguni Uthram.
  • Poojas such as Nirmalya Pooja, Usha Pooja, Athazha Pooja, Ethurtha Pooja, Neivedyam, Ucha Pooja, Deeparadhana, and Harivarasanam are performed in the temple.
