Karikkakom Sree Chamundi Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Chamundi. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the temple is believed to be about 600 years old. There is the idol of Goddess Karikkakathamma – an incarnation of Chamundi in the temple. HereChamundi Devi is worshipped in three different forms: Maha Chamundi, Raktha Chamundi, and Bala Chamundi. Festivals and special rituals are observed in the temple.
October to February is considered an ideal time to visit the temple. You can plan a visit to the Karikkakom Devi Temple during Pongala, Kerala and TaAmil Dadu’s harvest festival celebrated in March.
The annual festival in Karikkakom Devi Temple is observed in the month of Meenam. It is a seven-day long festival during which millions of women gather and prepare Pongala. The idol of Devi is carried out in a golden chariot around the temple one day before Pongala.
