Kanjiramattom Sree Mahadeva Temple, Kerala

Kanjiramattom Sree Mahadeva Temple is located in Thodupuzha, Idukki. The main deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva in the form Of God Shiva And Goddess Parvathy in a perfect representation. Sub-deities in the temple are Lord Ganapathy, Goddess Devi on the north-west, Goddess Vanadurga on the north-east corner, and Naaga Pratishta including Nagaraja, Nagayakshi and Rakshas can be seen here in the temple too. On the south-east of the temple, a beautiful sreekovil for Lord Amrita Kalasha Sasthavu is present.

According to mythology, Lord Mahadeva in camouflage in the journey with Parvathy came by the river. Lord Shiva sat near the hilltop after his bath in the river awaiting Parvathy. Parvathy after joined Mahadeva in the saIlam. A devotee donates Nandi’s idol placed in the temple at Kanjiramattom. A Nandi cannot be seen in any of the Devi Temples in Kerala except at Karikode.

In the Kanjiramattom Sree Mahadeva Temple daily Abhishekham is offered with tender coconuts, Paneer, oil, Milk, and Honey. Sankhabhishekham and Special Sree Rudra Dhara are also performed on devotees request.

Festivals/Events Celebrated at Kanjiramattom Sree Mahadeva Temple, Kerala

Maha Shivratri is celebrated annually on the 13th night/14th day in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Maagha or Phalguna in the Hindu Calendar. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Kanjiramattam Sree Mahadeva Temple.
