Jagannath Temple

The Jagannath temple Delhi is located in the Hauz Khas area of Delhi. The mandir was constructed by the Oriya community of the Delhi. The Jagannath temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, the meaning of the “ Jagannath” is Lord of the Universe.

It is a cultural hub for the Oriya community of Delhi. This temple is famous for its annual Rath Yatra. The temple has three main deities, Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra(brother of Lord Jagannath), Subhadra(sister of Lord Jagannath). The temple is managed by Sree Neelachala Seva Sangha.

The temple was initially founded in 1968. Later it reconstructed in the year of 1999.

Structure Of Jagannath Temple

  • The Temple has three main deities dedicated to the Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra, Subhadra. The main structure of the temple is 214 ft high. The temple complex comes under the 10.7 acre of land.
  • There is a wheel on the top of the Temple called Nila Chakra(blue wheel). It is made with the alloy of Eight metal. Every Ekadasi, a lamp is lit on the top of the temple near the wheel.
  • The temple is surrounded by the two Walls name as meghanada Prachira and Kurmabedha.The entire complex covered with the white marble. There is a pillar called Aruna Stambha along with sculptured lions.
  • There are many other shrines of Lord Narayan, Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma.

History Of Jagannath Temple

The temple is initially built in the 1968 and later rebuilt in 1999 by the Oriya community of the Delhi. Initially, the replica of the puri’s deities was placed in the temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath and Bal Bhadra and Subhadra.
