Irumkulangara Durga Bhagavathi Temple is one of the most revered age-old temples in Kerala. It is nestled on the bank of two ponds: "Irum '' means two and "Kulam" means lake. The temple is believed to have a relationship with the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple, one of the most famous temples in Thiruvananthapuram. Goddess Durga is the prime deity worshipped in Irumkulangara Durga Devi Temple. Here Goddess Durga appears as 'Durgabhagavathi' - an avatar of 'AdhiParasakthi'. 'Karthika' is believed to be the star of the deity.
A patch of small forest with the serpent Gods in front of the temple reflects the temple’s architecture. It is recently that the temple has been renovated with a new Chuttambalam and Sivelippura that is a testimony to Kerala Vasthu Vidya and new-age temple architecture.
