Hemkund Sahib
One of the prominent Sikh and Hindu pilgrimage site, Hemkund Sahib is situated in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The gurudwara lie at an amazing height of 4,632 meters amidst tranquil surroundings of Himalayas. Beside this holy site is a crystal clear water lake also known as Hemkund lake in water of which devotees take holy dip.

Hemkund Sahib History and Mythology
As per Hindu Mythology, Hemkunt Sahib is also popular by the name Lokpal. Lord Ram brother, Laxman did severe penance here to heal his injuries. A temple devoted to Laxman is also present at the same place where he meditated.
Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last guru of Sikhs also meditated at this place in his previous birth. On this spot Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib is placed.

- By Air – The nearest airport to Hemkund Sahib is Jolly Grant Airport. Motorable road to Hemkund Sahib is connected upto Govindghat. Govindghat is situated at a distance of 292kms from Jolly Grant Airport. One has to commence 19 kms trek from Govind Ghat to reach Hemkund Sahib. Taxis are easily available from Jolly Grant Airport to Govindghat.
- By Rail – Rishikesh is the nearest railway station to Hemkund Sahib. Govindghat is well connected with major destinations of India. Rishikesh railway station is located 273 kms before Govindghat.
- By Road – The motorable road to Hemkund Sahib ends at Govindghat. From here one has to take the 19 kms trek to reach Hemkund Sahib. Buses and taxis to Hemkund Sahib are available from major destinations of Uttarakhand state like Rishikesh, Srinagar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Ukhimath.
