Situated on the Southernmost Himalayan chain of mountains, Neel Parvat, the Chandi Devi Temple is located in the holy city of Haridwar. It is one of the oldest temples of India. Dedicated to Goddess Chandi Devi, this temple is believed to be the place where she rested for a while on Neel Parvat after killing the demon Kings Shumbh and Nishumbha. The Chandi Devi Temple is one of the Panch Tirth (Five Pilgrimages) that are located in Haridwar. Devotees from all over the globe visit this temple in high numbers every year.
The Chandi Devi temple is quite popular among devotees because it is considered to be a Siddhi Peetha, which means that all of one’s wishes are fulfilled after seeking the blessings from the Devi. This place is widely visited by trekkers as well due to its geographic location and the natural environment.
The only ways of reaching this temple is through a cable car journey or a steep 4-kilometre trek and climbing several stairs. One can witness mesmerizing views of the Ganga and Haridwar from the top of the temple.
