Satapada, Chilika

Located 50 kms from holy town of Puri, Satapada is a small village situated on the southern banks of Chilika Lake. Sata means ‘seven’ and Pada means ‘village’ so the name Satapada means group of seven villages. The village is one the most visited tourist attraction in Orissa because it offers best spot for locating rare Irrawaddy river dolphins. It also provides the opportunity for viewing a memorable sunrise and sunset.

Another major attraction near Satapada is the famous Rajahansa Island situated on the small island on Chilika Lake. The island has lagoon on one side and the Bay of Bengal on the other, with a forest and mountains in between. The Nalaban Bird Sanctuary is another famous attraction near Satapada.

How to reach Satapada, Chilika

Satapada is connected to Puri at a distance of 50 km via National Highway 203. Bhubaneshwar and Puri offer daily bus services along with taxis to Satapada. Famous tourists attractions in and around Satapada is Chilika Lake, Baliharachandi, and Alarnath. Rajahansa Island is at a distance of 18 kilometer from Satapada.
