Jamnagar is also known as Jewel of Kathiawar. The place is famous for its un-spoilt islands. The place has islands full of seashells and corals. Their beauty is very breathtaking. The place has very different species of birds and animals.

Places to Visit in Jamnagar

  • Marine National Park – It is India’s first Marine park and has 42 islands in all that have 37 species of hard and soft corals, 70 species of sponges, 200 species of Molluscs, 98 species of birds and 108 species of red, brown and green algae.
  • Bala Hanuman Temple – the temple is situated on the banks of Ranmal Lake. This temple has its name in Guineas Book of World records because the chanting of mantra ‘Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram’ has never stopped since 1st August 1964. No cyclone or earthquake could ever hurt the temple and is considered blessed.
  • Lakhota Talav – This Lake is a major tourist attraction as every year around 75 species of birds like pelicans, flamingos, ducks, terns migrate to this lake. You can enjoy cool breeze in the evening along with kulfi or chat. You can also enjoy a boat ride around the lake.
  • Khijadiya Bird sanctuary – This sanctuary is the home of a very diverse flora and fauna. It attracts many ornithologists because of rare birds like Grey Francolin, Common Quail, Northern Pintail, Small Blue Kingfisher, Barn Owl, Brown Crake and many more. You can either climb on the three watch towers available or paddle boats or walk long any of the trails.
  • Shivrajpur beach – beautiful place to visit.
  • Ranmal Lake – The walk around the lake gives you peace and makes you calm.
  • Lakhota Fort – Once this fort was home to Maharaja of Nawanagar. It is located in middle of the lake and is connected to main town by a bridge over the Ranmal Lake. The palace houses a museum showcasing antique pottery and artifacts dating back to 9th to 18th century.
  • Beyt Dwarka beach – The eastern tip of Beyt Dwarka has beautiful white beach, coral reefs and animals like dolphins, porpoise, sea turtles, octopus, star fish, sea urchins and many more.
  • Balachari beach – The specialty of the beach is that it provides peace as the beach is not crowded. The place gives you moments of peace while looking at silver sand under moonlight.

How to Reach Jamnagar

Jamnagar is about 131 km away from Dwarka. There are direct buses and trains available from Dwarka to Jamnagar. They hardly take 2-3 hours to complete the journey.
