Vadakkan Koyikkal Devi Temple, Puthiyavila

Vadakkan Koyikkal Devi Temple Puthiyavila is situated in Puthiyavila, Kayamkulam. The main deity worshipped in the temple is Goddess Parvathy. The other deities worshipped are Lord Shiva, Bhadrakali, Sree Dharma Sastha, Naga Nevada, Khandakarna, Yekshi, Yogishwara and Brahma Rakshas. The prime attraction of Vadakkan Koyikkal temple is the two-story main temples. The main idol of Sree Parvathy resided on the ground floor while Shiva resides on the 1st floor.

Festivals celebrated in the Vadakkan Koyikkal Devi Temple Puthiyavila are Kumbha Bharani and Navaha Yekngam. Kumbha Bharani is the main festival of the temple. It is celebrated on the Bharani day of the Malayalam calendar month Kumbham. Devotees believe that it is the birthday of Vadakkan Koyikkal Devi. The 10-day festival is celebrated with great zest. Kettukazhcha is celebrated on 9th and 10th day.

Navaha Yekngam is another 9-day festival celebrated in the Vadakkan Koyikkal Devi Temple. The 9-day festival is celebrated during April – May. During these nine days, religious ceremonies are conducted in the temple. On all nine days, Annadana is also performed.
