Sri Siddhi Vinayakar Temple, Kerala

Sri Siddhi Vinayakar Temple is located 1 km South-West of Sulthankada. In this 21 years old temple Lord Vinayaka is worshipped as the prime deity. Though the temple is located near the public cemetery of native Tamils and is a top attraction for the local youth.

During 1978, a person dreamt of an elephant calf running around near the area where the temple is located. But the other people ignored his dream. Later a native found an elephant-shaped stone and installed the same on Peettham. This statue is worshipped as Yoga Ganapathi.

The name Chittampara or Chittanpara is derived from Sidhan’s Para (Sage’s rock), which seems to refer to a Sage doing penance in the area.

All the deity face towards the East. The Main Deity is Sidhi Vinayakar, and sub-deities are Yoga Ganapathi, Nagaraja, Bhavani Devi, Sri Sasthavu. Devotees feel the presence of Siva & Parvathi here.

Festivals/Events Celebrated at Sri Siddhi Vinayakar Temple, Kerala

The temple did not attract many devotees earlier. In 1989, a small shrine was built, and the deity of Sidhi Vinayakar was installed. A beautiful deity of Ngarja is installed at His right and Karthikeya at His left. In 1991, the grand Kumbhabhishekam was performed by Vishveshwara Iyer from Chinnamannur. The prime festivals celebrated with great pomp are during Vinayaka Jayanthi and Sabari Mala pooja days. This is how the temple gained prominence.
