Anikkattilammakshethram in Pathanamthitta, Kerala

Anikkattilammakshethram is a highly revered Hindu shrine located in Mallappally, South Kerala. Devotees know the temple as Mallappally Anikkattilamma Shiva Parvathy temple. Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati are worshipped together in a sanctum. Lord Shiva is in the form of Kiratha with bow and arrow in his arms while Goddess Parvati has a sword in her hand. Sub-deities worshipped in the temple are Bhadra, Nagaraja, Rakshasas and Yakshi Amma in the sub-abodes in the courtyard. Both the idols are about 4 feet in height and are installed side by side. It is believed that the temple is about 1600 years old.

Festivals/Events Celebrated at Anikkattilammakshethram Temple in Kerala

The Pongala Pooja – an eight-day long festival is celebrated during Kumbham. The annual festival commences on Rohini day of Malayalam month during February-March and concludes on the day of Pooram star. This festival is celebrated with great zest and attracts devotees from various parts of Kerala.
