Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple in Kerala is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Devotees fondly call Lord Krishna as Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy at the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple. According to a mythological story, Shri Krishna rode the chariot of Arjuna aka Partha during Kurukshetra. Hence, he is known as Parthasarathy.
Tamil classic, Divya Prabandha, in his classic that dates back to the 6-9 ninth century, referred to this temple. It is believed that the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple was constructed near Sabarimala. It is one of the five temples built by the Pandavas in Kerala.
After leaving Hastinapur for pilgrimage, the Pandavas reached River Pampa. These temples were built at that time.
According to legends, Arjuna was built as a penance for killing Karna. There is a sub shrine dedicated to Lord Balarama in the temple.
