Amarnath is a famous destination for Hindu pilgrims. The yatra opens only for 2 months during July and August each year. In 2011 it received about 634,000 persons, the highest recorded number for the shrine. The number was 622,000 in 2012 and 350,000 in 2013.
In 2018 the Sacred Amarnath Yatra started from June 2019 to Aug 2019, and around 3.42 lakh pilgrims visited this holy place of Lord Shiva.
