The Holy Bhawan which is a narrow cave, houses the Sanctum Sanctorum. It is believed that in this cave Mother Goddess disclosed herself in form of a rock with three heads. This three head in rock form is known as Holy Pindies and is very religiously worshiped. This three heads signifies Goddess in her three avatar-Kali Mata, Lakshmi Mata and Mata Saraswati. Each Holy Pindi has a different color and structure.
The Holy Bhawan is the focal point of the Vaishno Devi Yatra. As it is the main centre of reverence for the devotees, adequate arrangements are made by the Shrine Board to cater to every need of the pilgrims at the Vaishnavi Mata Temple. These include free and rented accommodation; toilet blocks; restaurants; post offices; banks; communication centers(STD/PCO); cloak rooms; dispensary (with ICU); general stores; police stations, etc.
After being located by Bhairon Nath at Ardhkawari, Vaishnavi Mata moved uphill towards the Holy Cave. Bhairon Nath chased the Goddess and reached the cave to challenged her.Mother Goddess assumed her divine form and in anger cut apart the head of Bhairon Nath. The holy Goddess served the head with her sword with so much power that his torso fell 1.5 km away on another mountain. Where the head fell, today at that site Bhairon temple is located. The Goddess engaged herself in the deep meditation inside the Sanctum Sanctorum where her manifestation in petrified form is present.
