The temple has a beautiful marble deity of Devi Rukmani with four hands holding Shanka, Chakra, Gada and Padma. This symbolizes her being reincarnation of Devi Lakshmi. The place is very dry and has no water.
It is believed that once Lord Krishna and Devi Rukmini invited Rishi Durvasa for a meal in their house. It is expected that host will eat after the guest has eaten but Devi Rukmani got thirsty and asked Lord Krishna to help her. Lord Krishna quietly gave her water to drink but Rishi Durvasa saw that and felt insulted. He cursed Devi Rukmani that she will be separated from Lord Krishna. That is why Lord Krishna’s temple Dwarkadhish is in Dwarka and Devi Rukmani’s temple is far away. Also it is believed that because of this curse the place has no water.
